Is there a tutorial for ent files?

I am thinking of changing the explosive strength of some of the artillery I put in maps, and some next map links on a server.

Or will the ent file do that?

Get the entities list from the map and copy them into a blank text file and save it as mapname.ent and edit it however you want in notepad.

I think you can get the entity list by opening the bsp in quark or you can use this:

I am seeing "override" files in the download, is this the same as an ent file or something else, seems to have a lot of information that impacts the game.

override files let you make alternate versions of the same map without making duplicates of the bsp. It's part of r1q2. That's how you can vote for different versions of dday2 with capture the civilian/vip mode etc. They're pretty similar to .ent files. You go here to make them:
